Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Silicone spatula
  • Whisk
  • Wooden spoon
  • Glass storage jar or airtight container

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • cup Worcestershire sauce
  • cup yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

Step 1

  • Place the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, molasses, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and butter into a medium saucepan.

Step 2

  • Whisk until every ingredient becomes smooth and evenly blended before heating. Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Stir carefully so the spices spread throughout the mixture.

Step 3

  • Set the saucepan over medium heat until small bubbles begin to appear, then immediately reduce the heat to low.

Step 4

  • Cook gently for about 20 minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking while allowing the sauce to become thicker.

Step 5

  • Remove the pan from the heat and let the sauce cool naturally. Transfer it into a clean jar and refrigerate before serving for the best texture.
